Motion Picture Soundtrack
Easily one of the most anticipated animated feature films of the past ten years, F.A.K.K.2, is finally making it to the silver screen. Its predecessor, Heavy Metal released in 1981, has become a cult classic being shown somewhere in the world on any given weekend at midnight. Propelling the film into immortal status was its killer soundtrack boasting arena acts of the day, Black Sabbath, Cheap Trick, Journey and Sammy Hagar among others. Nearly twenty years later F.A.K.K.2 shapes a similar concept in adult animation primed to convert a new generation. Like its originator F.A.K.K.2 hosts just the right mix of ear-bleeding mayhem to fuel the celluloid tale.
The soundtrack, released on Restless Records, oozes with a fresh serving of todays hottest metal constituents including Monster Magnet, Pantera, Queens Of The Stone Age, Puya, Coal Chamber, Machine Head and others. Surprise appearances include Billy Idol (his first new recording in seven years and whose voice is used as one of the main characters) and Bauhaus. Produced by Bruce Berman and assisted by Bob Ezrin (Kiss, Pink Floyd, Kansas) and William Hein the soundtrack merges a world of monolithic sound equal to the adventurous animation feature created by Kevin Eastman and legendary illustrator, Simon Bisley.
The story behind F.A.K.K.2 was adapted from the graphic novel Melting Pot written by Eastman who recounts the gory saga of the beautiful heroine Julie (aka FAKK2). Together, Eastman and Bisley modeled FAKK2 after B-movie queen and former Penthouse Pet of the year, Julie Strain, who is the voice of the heroine in the film.
Restless Records will release four separate cover designs by Simon Bisley and a limited edition, double CD which includes a CD-ROM containing additional movie paintings, a comic book version of the movie, PC game demos and a movie trailer. In addition to the collectable CDs there will be action figures, skateboards and trading cards, which are already posted on the Heavy Metal web site (www.heavymetal.com).
Quotes featured band Full Devil Jacket about the movie, Naked women, violence, all-out craziness, what more could you ask for from a classic movie? F.A.K.K.2 is scheduled for release this summer through Sony Entertainment / Columbia Tri-Star Pictures.
