But let’s talk about Angel Air’s release of a fantastic new set focusing on the super group British Lions. The year was 1977, Punk was happening and Mott had ceased to exist. Former Medicine Head frontman, John Fiddler joined Morgan Fisher, Dale Griffin, Ray Majors and Overend Watts to form British Lions. Money was tight and so was studio time. In the time allocated for three singles they record their entire debut album plus three B-sides. A string of gigs supporting AC/DC and Status Quo were arranged but Punk and New Wave were making their big splash so the Lions looked to the US.

In the summer of ’78 British Lions started their invasion of America supporting Blue Oyster Cult and UFO for a six week run. Hot on the charts was the group’s hit Wild In The Streets whose power-riff intro had the crowds begging for more. The group flew back to England to cut their follow-up LP titled Trouble With Women. But management and label troubles halted its release, however it did eventually see the light of day in 1980. Now for the first time both LPs are available on CD, neatly packaged with extensive liner notes, hot photos and lots of bonus material!
